Updated 2:10 pm Friday, January 5, 2018: Medford’s snow emergency will be lifted as of 6 pm Friday, which means the parking ban is no longer in place on city roads.

The area’s first big snow storm could bring a foot or more of snow on Thursday, according to the latest local forecast from the National Weather Service.
The Medford Public Schools are closed Thursday and Friday due to the storm and the bitter cold expected to follow. Medford City Hall and LoConte Rink are also closed on Thursday.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until early Friday morning. Snow is expected to fall all day Thursday, with the heaviest snow occurring from mid-morning through the afternoon.
A Wind Chill Watch will be in effect from Friday night through Saturday afternoon, as extreme bitter cold is coming after the storm.
A snow emergency is in effect in Medford until further notice. Parking on side streets is only allowed on the odd side while there is no parking on major roads until the snow emergency is lifted. Full details about the snow emergency are available on the city website.
The state Department of Conservation and Recreation has a parking ban in effect for all of their roads in Medford, which include Mystic Valley Parkway, Fellsway West, Elm Street, Middlesex Ave, Highland Ave, South Border Road, and East Border Road.
