A Boston-based crime drama created by no other than hometown heroes Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will soon film some scenes in Medford.
“City on a Hill” will debut on Showtime and is a series about the “Boston Miracle,” an effort during the 90s to crack down on crime.
“Set in Boston in the early 90s when the city was rife with violent criminals emboldened by local law enforcement agencies, in which corruption and racism was the norm, until it all suddenly changed. The drama is a fictional account of what was called the ‘Boston Miracle’ and centers on an African-American District Attorney who comes in from Brooklyn advocating change and the unlikely alliance he forms with a corrupt yet venerated FBI veteran who is invested in maintaining the status quo. Together they take on a family of armored car robbers from Charlestown in a case that grows to encompass and eventually upend Boston’s city-wide criminal justice system.”
Kevin Bacon is one of stars of the series, which will film in Medford on January 16 and possibly other dates. The production staff has asked permission from the City of Medford for a food truck to feed the crew in the parking lot of the VFW on Mystic Avenue.
“City on a Hill” began filming in the Boston area this month, according to The Boston Globe.
