The results of the recent Medford School Committee election held on November 7 indicated, by a slim margin, that I, incumbent Robert Emmett Skerry, Jr., lost the sixth spot on the School Committee, by 29 votes to Paul Ruseau.
The unofficial numbers for the two candidates indicated a difference of less than 1% between them, and because it was so close, I requested a recount. This past weekend Medford’s School Committee election results were confirmed at the recount held at Medford City Hall on Saturday, November 25 and Sunday, November 26, and the final results indicated that Paul Ruseau finished in sixth place.
The final tally is in and my term will end soon. As a lifelong Medford resident, I have served the City of Medford as a member of the School Committee for over 24 years. I have dedicated my service to this community in several capacities as well as a School Committee member and several volunteer positions. I will continue to serve Medford residents as an ambassador to public education and issues that affect our daily lives.
I want to express a heartfelt thanks to my family, friends and residents of Medford who have supported my endeavors for the last three decades. I will continue to be an active voice for all of Medford in the days ahead.
