MassDOT and the MBTA are holding a public meeting about the possibility of extending the Green Line to Route 16 on Monday, November 20 from 6 to 8 pm at Breed Hall at Tufts University.
The meeting will focus on the NPC (Notice of Project Change) recently filed by the MBTA with state office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. The NPC “presents a preliminary proposal for a one-mile extension of the Green Line along the MBTA Lowell Line commuter rail right‑of‑way from the currently planned terminus at College Avenue in Medford to Mystic Valley Parkway (Route 16) in Medford and Somerville.”
The NPC is posted to the Green Line extension website. Public comments are being accepted through November 28 to Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs, Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA), Attn: MEPA Office, EEA No. 13886, 100 Cambridge Street, Suite 900, Boston MA 02114.
The extension of the Green Line to Medford and Somerville is expected to be completed in 2021. The only planned Medford station so far will be located at Boston and College Avenues.
