Mayor Stephanie M. Burke invites you to celebrate the 80th Birthday of City Hall and honor distinct individuals who have contributed to the greatness of the City. The event will commence at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 19th.
Mayor Burke will begin the celebration by unveiling the Medford Chamber of Commerce Citizens of the Year Plaque alongside members of the Chamber of Commerce, with representatives from 1971 through 2016. Next, we will recognize Mayor John J. Irwin, Sr., who is remembered building the “Hall” via a Works Project A (WPA) in the 1930s. Attendees will then be invited to gather outside for the unveiling of a new monument honoring Mr. Steve Honeycutt, former Chairperson of the Medford Commission for Persons with Disabilities. Our final dedication of the evening will be on the second floor of the building. Room 201 will be named the “Richard E. Lee Room”, after our former City Manager who served the Medford community proudly for many years.
The evening will conclude in the newly renovated City Hall Chambers as we sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to a beautifully historic building. We’re thrilled to have the Marsha Caron Medford High School Alumni Band as well as the Medford High School String Ensemble participating in our event. We hope you will join us on Thursday!
