Medford residents looking for a good laugh and a fun night out no longer have to travel outside of the city’s borders.
Carroll’s Restaurant has held several comedy shows featuring top talent both locally and internationally known. Lenny Clarke, Tony V. (Viveiros), Christine Hurley, Johnny Pizzi, Steve Scarfo, and Dave Russo have all made appearances at the Medford Square restaurant and bar.
“We’ve always had the top names in the area,” said restaurant owner Maury Carroll.
On September 21 Clarke, Viveiros, and Hurley each returned to Carroll’s for a second straight sold-out show just one week after the first one. The crowd enjoyed appetizers, dinner, and dessert before the entertainment began. Radio personality and Medford native Hank Morse emceed, drawing laughs from the crowd with his introductions of the guests and random roasting of audience members.
Carroll says he’s currently planning his next show. Details are usually released on the restaurant’s website and social media accounts.
The restaurant also recently announced that Medford Public Schools and City of Medford employees will enjoy a 20% discount on their food bills. The deal also extends to Tufts University students and staff.
Carroll’s roots in Medford go back decades to 1930. The Carroll family operated a popular diner for over fifty years. The 24/7 establishment was a go-to hangout and also served many celebrities. Carroll’s Restaurant opened in Medford Square in 2012 and has unique features such as an oyster bar and locally-themed cocktails.
