Severe storms sometimes come with torrential downpours that dump so much rain so quickly that flash flooding becomes an issue. On Wednesday afternoon Medford police and firefighters responded to rescue a driver from this car caught in the Harvard Street underpass. Firefighters say the driver was “safely removed” from the car and they warn people that cars can be swept away in just six inches of water.
There is rain in the forecast for the next three days. Watch out for heavy downpours, be aware of flash flood warnings, and don’t try to drive through water that is approaching curb-level.
