The historic Peter Tufts House is up for sale, according to the Medford Historical Society. The circa 1680 colonial, located on Riverside Avenue, has belonged to the Historical Society since 1982 but its care-taking needs have exceeded the organization’s capacity to maintain the property.
Historical Society president John Anderson said they want the “right buyer” that is “enthusiastic” about the home and understands its responsibilities. The property has restrictions on its future development and can’t be demolished or subdivided. Historic New England, the former owner of the home, requires work to be approved in advance and inspects the home each year for compliance.
The Peter Tufts House is a 2,640 square foot four-bedroom single family home, according to its real estate listing. The asking price is $657,500.
