Powerful Storm Brings Down Trees, Power Lines in Area

A strong, quick-moving thunderstorm brought heavy downpours and high winds to Medford and the area on Tuesday afternoon. According to local reports, the storm took down trees, power lines, and branches. Two large trees crashed down in Medford Square by the Senior Center on Riverside Avenue, one of which partially blocked the road.

Several cars were damaged by fallen tree limbs at the Nissan dealership on Mystic Avenue, according to WCVB.

Nearly 200 National Grid customers in Medford remain without power, which the company says should be restored by 9 pm.

Cambridge and Somerville also saw similar damage from the storm.
