‘The Opioid Epidemic & Our Workplaces’ June 14th

Employers, business owners, management and administrative professionals from workplaces small and large are invited to attend “The Opioid Epidemic & Our Workplaces” conference on Wednesday, June 14th 2017 from 8:00AM-1:00PM at Tufts University Breed Hall located at 51 Winthrop Street in Medford, MA.

This half-day forum, brought to you by the Mystic Valley Public Health Coalition (MVPHC), the MA Opioid Abuse Prevention Collaborative (MOAPC), and the Medford Chamber of Commerce, was organized in response to employers expressed need for practical information and steps when it comes to managing employees struggling with addiction and providing a supportive environment for their recovery.

The growing opioid epidemic caused nearly 2,000 deaths in Massachusetts last year alone and costs US employers $193 billion each year. If this epidemic has already affected your workplace or has not, this conference will help you be prepared to help your employees. The forum will provide practical information, specific action plans, and guidance that all employers can use to support their employees and the greater community.

The keynote address will be given by Middlesex County District Attorney Marian T. Ryan. Other presenters will include local law enforcement, businesses and programs supporting individuals in recovery, Employee Assistance Programs, and Employment Attorney’s from Hirsch Roberts & Weinstein, a premier litigation, labor, and employment law firm in Boston.
