Over the past 12 years I have instituted changes, successful programs and fresh ideas. I have represented the City of Medford, as a Medford School Committee member and in different positions across the state. I have served on many local, regional and state boards and committees. As I gained this knowledge and information, I would return and share the information with my colleagues and community.
As the 2014 President of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees and as an appointed Member by Governor Patrick and Governor Baker on the Local Government Advisory Committee, it has been my honor and opportunity to showcase the City of Medford while advocating for the State of Massachusetts.
In the past several years, my colleagues and I have implemented a $3+ million district wide technology system, a $2.5 million renovation of the Medford High Pool and a $16 million reconstruction of the Medford High School Science Facility. All of which utilized state and federal grants eliminating the need to go before the Medford City Council with a proposal that would have raised taxes which, as we all know, is not the ultimate goal.
My family and I are lifelong residents of Medford and educated through the Medford Public School system. We are proud to have raised our four sons, which have all graduated from the system and continue on their road to success.
As I watch my children progress in their in lives, I know it is time for me to do the same. To lead by example, to bring the knowledge and experience I have attained in the past 12 years on the Medford School Committee to a different level. That is why it is with great excitement I am officially announcing my run for a seat on the Medford City Council!
I will continue to work hard and passionately for our community!
I will need your continued help and support and ask you for your vote in November!
Ann Marie Cugno,
Candidate for the Medford City Council
