A new “boutique” hotel is coming to Medford Square, according to Mayor Stephanie M. Burke and details posted on social media.
Mayor Burke broke the news during her State of the City address on February 8. The hotel will be located next to City Hall at 101 George P. Hassett Drive, the site of a former office building. Two other abandoned buildings sit on the property and it’s unclear if those buildings will be involved in the development plans.
According to a press release that appears to be from Darshan Gandi, the CEO of RudraH Hospitality LLC, the hotel will be eight stories with 124 rooms. It will also boast a rooftop ballroom and conference center in addition to a “sky bar” with views of Medford and Boston.
Construction will begin in the fall of 2017 and the hotel should open a year later.
It’s unknown at this time what type of hotel will be moving into Medford. Mayor Burke called it “boutique” while Gandi referred to it as “branded.” RudraH Hospitality LLC owns and manages hotels in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including a Holiday Inn Express in North Attleboro and a Fairfield Inn & Suites in Milford.
The new hotel will be Medford’s third, with an AC Marriott across town at Station Landing and a Hyatt Hotel just across the way in Medford Square.
