Abou MARV the Art Bus
Last year, Medford Arts Center, Inc. (MACI) purchased an 18-seater school bus to turn into a roving art vehicle that could bring all types of art events to neighborhoods in Medford.
MACI reached out to Dr. Riccio to collaborate with students and staff at Medford Technical High School on converting the yellow school bus into MARV the Art Bus. Work started in September in the Automotive Collision department, where the bus seats were removed, and the outer body was patched and sanded to prepare for a new coat of bright aqua paint.
About the Contest
MACI has launched a contest to design a fancy coat over that aqua background. Artists or groups can submit proposals for a design that will be painted on the bus as a community event in the late spring and early summer. The contests is open to anyone with Medford ties, and the award for the winning design is $1,000.
You can read more about the contest at http://medfordart.org/design-contest-fancy-new-coat-for-marv-the-art-bus/, but don’t wait too long because submissions must be in by March 20, 2017.
