Schools Closed for 2 Straight Days, Snow Emergency in Place – Updated Feb. 9th

The area’s first big snow storm could bring nine to thirteen inches of snow on Thursday, according to the latest local forecast from the National Weather Service.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 10 pm Wednesday through 2 am Friday. Snow is expected to begin early Thursday and last all day into the evening.

Snow is expected to be heavy at times. The temperature is going to plunge into the teens and strong gusts of wind will blow snow around and send wind chill values into the negative digits.

The Medford Public Schools will be closed on Friday “due to the blizzard and need to properly clean our streets, school buildings, and parking lots for safe passage to and from school.”

The Medford Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, February 9.

The city of Medford has declared a snow emergency as of 7:00 am Thursday until further notice. This means no parking on main roads and even-side parking only on side streets. More details about the snow emergency are available on the city website.

Waste Management will not pick up trash on Thursday, February 9 due to the storm. Trash pick-up throughout the city will be pushed back a day.
