On December 14 MassDOT held a meeting in Medford about changes to the proposed Green Line extension to Medford & Somerville.
Cost overruns have led to a scaled back project, which is now tentatively expected to be completed in December 2021. In a presentation, project officials said there will still be 7 stops, with one planned in Medford at College and Boston Avenues.
Due to public interest in extending the Green Line to Route 16 in Medford, project officials said they are going to begin the state environmental review process for a Route 16 terminus.
The Ball Square station rendering shown here is an example of the new station design, which is open air to save money.
